March for Babies in Charleston this SATURDAY, April 28!

April 26, 2012

Here’s a thought: Take out all the extra change in your pocket. If all of your friends, family and neighbors did this, and you put all the change together, can you imagine what a difference that would make?

It’s the final countdown to donate to the March of Dimes for March for Babies. Every cent can make such a different for this incredible organization, and we’re in the final fundraising countdown!  Please consider making a donation for the big event this Saturday, April 28!

Thanks so much for your support. It means the world to me and the health of our future babies!

Terry’s Tips: Pre-scoop ice cream for easy post-clean-up!

April 19, 2012

Hosting a party – or to be more specific – a kid party? You and I both know how messy those situations can get, which is why I love this tip from Real Simple: pre-scoop the ice cream!

All you have to do is fill muffin tins with cupcake liners and scoop out the ice cream into each. Then, pop the whole thing back in the freezer. If you’re cutting cake, take the ice cream back out and just plop the ice cream ball on top. It’s that simple and saves you from messy scooping!

Springtime means parties of all sorts, so I’d love to hear your kids’ parties ideas. What other time savers have you learned over the years?

Terry Haas to Emcee Taste of Home Cooking School & Showcase Expo on May 8 in Summerville

April 17, 2012

I’m so excited to be the emcee for this year’s Taste of Home Cooking School & Showcase Expo on Tuesday, May 8! Culinary Specialist Michelle Roberts will return to the stage to demonstrate delicious recipes from the national magazine, and it’s just the start of the show’s excitement!  Whether you’ve been cooking for years or you’re just getting started, Michelle teaches useful tips and tricks that will make your cooking experience more affordable, sensible and most important, delicious!

I love cooking at home for my husband and two children, and I’m so looking forward to bringing home some great tips from the show. I’m a working mom so I need simple, easy, prepare-ahead meals. I can’t wait to learn tips from Michelle on cutting corners, saving time and still making a culinary delight!

In addition to the entertaining and educational live demonstration, attendees have the opportunity to walk through a showcase expo featuring local vendors offering samples, door prizes, and more!  This combination of great food, valuable goodies and never-ending fun has created a cult-like following among Taste of Home fans.

Tickets are available at The Summerville Journal Scene office at 104 East Doty Ave. in Summerville, or purchase online at www.JournalScene.com/TasteofHome.  Tickets will sell out quickly, so be sure to purchase yours soon! Can’t wait to see you there!
