Terry’s Tips: How to Use Gray in Your Home

April 5, 2012

One of the hottest colors right now for walls and furniture is gray. Even though it’s not a warm color, there are so many ways you can incorporate this color into your room’s palette as an accent; or, if you’re more adventurous, it can be the the central color for your entire room.

What’s lovely about gray is that there are so many different shades you can work with. Dark, slate-blue grays are stark and elegant; light, more lavender-tinted shades are cool and breezy. Whichever direction you choose to go, gray can complement your existing color by making things pop or create a soothing, neutral connection. Here are a few gray-inspired photos I found on Pinterest:

I love how this gray living area is comfortable, casual and cozy with fuzzy throw pillows and clustered art on a single shelf.

Love the gray with pops of yellow

Don't be afraid to use bold, dark slate grays either for elegance.

Do you use gray in your house? How do you incorporate the color?
